Multi-Skilled Operator

Reporting Manager - Plant Manager

Start Date - August 2021

Starting Salary - Up to £34k

Starting Salary - 35 day shift pattern with generous time off


Job Purpose

Carlton Forest Group’s renewables division is installing the UKs first continuous operation pyrolysis plant at it’s site in Worksop (S81 0TP). The plant produces oil and carbon char from end of life tyres – producing 4mill litres of oil per year and 7500 tonnes of char. 


The role requires operating, feeding and maintaining the plant on a 35 day shift pattern to include nights and weekends to serve a 24/7 operation (Shift pattern: 5 on - 4 off - 5 on - 5 off - 4 on - 12 off).

Duties include:

•    Monitoring the continuous plant operations via an automated PLC/SCADA

•    Carrying out planned maintenance on the pyrolysis machinery and R&D equipment

•    Actively work to improve the process

•    Carrying out testing and repairs of equipment

•    Complete technical data sheets during manufacturing

•    Ensuring compliance in relation to Safety, Environmental and operating procedures

•    Maintain quality standards and safest working practices 

•    Arranging delivery of, and feeding the plant with end of life tyres

•    Supervisory responsibility on a rotation basis


Necessary Experience:

•    Plant operations, observant and uses initiative to prioritise necessary work.

•    Experience using some hand tools and most power tools

•    Highly organised 

•    Follow mechanical and electrical drawings

•    Strong attention to detail 

•    Good interpersonal skills

•    IT/computer literate. Data recording in excel, email communication, maintenance planning and scheduling, and daily reports etc.


Advantageous:

•    Mechanical engineering experience

•    Electrical engineering experience

•    IOSH certification

•    Forklift/bobcat/telehandler licence

•    First aid trained

Site Manager

Job Purpose

Reporting into the Head of Operations, you will ensure an effective and safe site operation. You will make sure that effective processes are in place and adhered to at all times, alongside the leadership and development of staff and the warehouse.


In this role you will manage senior level relationships with our warehouse clients and other key internal stakeholders, to ensure we meet our contractual requirements and exceed our client expectations to attract, retain and develop new business.


Your will drive service excellence by influencing, planning, prioritising and delegating to maximise both the efficiency and service levels of our warehouse but most of all drive a ‘One Team’ culture which is a pillar of our business.

Leadership & People Management:

  • Communicates clearly so that direct reports at ‘Manager’ level and below are aware of their objectives and the standards required, ensuring that these are aligned to both functional and broader business objectives.

  • Accountable for ensuring the quality of the work of direct line reports and the performance of their team members where applicable.

  • Role model positive behaviour, which is in keeping with our values, recognising good / excellent performance whilst being clear and transparent about areas of underperformance concerning direct line reports and their teams where applicable

  • Lead and coach ‘Manager’ level colleagues on how to bring about change and improvements where these need to be made

  • Work closely with our finance teams to ensure we manage resource effectively, maintaining efficiency and ensuring that operational budgets are always met.

  • Continually review the warehousing proposition to ensure we remain competitive in the market and operate ahead of our competition

  • Work with stakeholders to develop relevant training packages for colleagues and to ensure we have the right trained and motivated workforce in place 

  • Regularly review all contracts and supplier relationships, making recommendations for changes as and when required.

  • Maintain a minimum BRC standard to ensure the warehouse is always audit ready.

  • Focus on continuous improvement within the warehouse from systems, implementations, processes and proactively look to implement these into the business

  • Be part of the customer review process and communicate with the customer by email and phone.

  • Ensure site management and staff levels are in line with operational demand. 

  • Conduct weekly and monthly staff briefs and appraisals and assess training needs and requirements for everyone. Including performance and absence management.

  • Liaise with other functional/departmental managers to understand all necessary aspects and 

  • Needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives,

Person Specification:

Mandatory

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to quickly establish credibility and build effective, collaborative,             

  • Working relationships at all levels

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills

  • Able to act at all times in a professional manner to the benefit of the company and maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse environment

  • Experience building and maintaining internal and external relationships

  • At least 3 years’ experience in leading and managing successful teams

  • IOSH managing safely

  • Excellent computer skills – experienced in using Microsoft – Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint

  • HR knowledge

  • Recruitment experience 


Desirable:

•    NEBOSH General Certificate

•    3PL background

•    Previous experience of a start-up or business in a rapid growth transition

•    Facilities management experience 

•    Project management experience

•    Continuous improvement and knowledge of lean methodologies

Warehouse Operatives

Job Purpose

To receive, store and handle customer supplied goods as required by the Shift Manager or designate in a safe and legal manner by performing the following duties.


  • Unload, load all incoming customer goods as required in the appropriate manner to maintain the integrity of customer goods minimising damage. 

  • Carry out checks on incoming or outgoing goods to ensure it reflects accurately the product, quantity and quality of goods received or despatched.

  • Ensure all MHE used is checked and compliant with site safety rules and the appropriate check sheets are completed signed and dated. 

  • Move and handle all customer goods by use of appropriate MHE and the approved methods as defined by the customer or directed by the Shift Manager or designate. 

  • Maintain site Health Safety and Hygiene standards as required and proactively act on any issues identified during the course of the shift.

  • Report all accidents and incidents and potential hazards to the Shift Manager as soon as possible.

  • Report any unauthorised persons observed within the warehouse to the Shift Manager or designate. 

General Duties:

  • Liaise with other internal departments as required.

  • Maintain housekeeping levels of warehouse and surrounding area.

  • Ensuring all Shift procedures are adhered to at all times. 


Quality Standards & Miscellaneous:

  • Ensuring Customer Supplied and agreed standards are met at all times. 

  • Completion of Ad – Hoc work as specified by the Shift Manager or designate,

  • Participate in meetings if required.

  • Attend training as required.

  • Attend Team Briefings.

Forklift Truck Drivers

Job Purpose

You will be responsible for the transportation of goods and pallets around our warehousing sites. The role of a forklift driver involves the following duties: Loading and unloading materials from a variety of vehicles. Moving pallet-packed materials around the site or storage facility. To receive, store and handle customer supplied goods as required by the Shift Manager or designate in a safe and legal manner by performing the following duties.


  • Qualified to operate counter balance and preferably reach fork lift trucks (but can be trained)

  • Carry out checks on incoming or outgoing goods to ensure it reflects accurately the product, quantity and quality of goods received or despatched.

  • Ensure all MHE used is checked and compliant with site safety rules and the appropriate check sheets are completed signed and dated.
